As rumours about whether he would seek for reelection in 2024 grow, President Biden stated in a new interview that concerns about his age are "absolutely valid."
When asked about if his age plays a factor in his decision to run for office again, Biden, 80, responded in the negative during an interview with ABC's David Muir. He did, though, assert that it is "legitimate" for people to voice their worries.
He said to Muir, "It's legitimate for individuals to have worries about my age. "It is entirely lawful to do. All I can say is, "Watch me," at this point."
At 82 years old, Biden would be the oldest president in American history if he were to be re-elected in 2024.
Both sides of the aisle have expressed alarm about Biden's age.
In her opening statement for her 2024 presidential campaign earlier this month, Republican Nikki Haley maintained that everyone over 75 should be put through a mental fitness exam.
The White House, meanwhile, has disputed recent accusations, with deputy press secretary Andrew Bates claiming that Republicans tried to exploit the age card but failed.
in the ABC interview, Biden also acknowledged Jill Biden's indication that he will seek reelection. Jill Biden stated last week in Kenya that "He's not done."
The president remarked, "God love her, like my mother would say."
Before I launch a full-fledged campaign, I have other tasks to complete, he continued.
